I just watched Kung Fu Panda 2 with the girls, and it is an amazing movie for trauma survivors!
The panda has pieces of recovered memories from his childhood that he processes, and it has ALL the elements of trauma processing from questioning the memories, to confirming, to actual processing, confrontation, and resolution. One part is very cool! It's where it all seems to come together and he closes his eyes and pushes it away, but another character says,"Do not resist. Let it flow through you." Then the panda picks up a drop of water and tosses it left and right, back and forth between his paws and processes the whole event. It mimics EMDR. REALLY cool!!!
Great messages in the movie too. Like the villian asks how the panda can survive because he "scarred" him for life, but the Panda says,"Scars heal. Oh, wait! WOUNDS heal. But scars fade."
You have to see it!
